Reasons For writing this blog

Of the many reasons to write about Art in Saskatoon, I will list the following :
  • Having searched and looked for commentary on Art and Artists in Saskatoon, I have found none who  provide feedback to artists about their showings. Sure, all the events are advertised one way or another, but the  follow up dialogue seems to be missing.
  • In my quest to learn about Art, and its influence on our daily lives, it seemed reasonable to structure my approach to leaning and  so reviewing seemed logical.
  • As an artist I believe it is important for me to stay in touch with the evolution of  my point of view as it changes in its peculiarity within the context of my own artistic development.
  • I am an emerging writer and a painter, and blogging about art makes sense.
Process and Emphasis
  • I study  a particular exhibit, sometimes interview the artist, and then offer my point of view within the context of artist's statement. For validation or for that matter invalidating my point of view, I  also  research and synthesize any related findings, and blurt out the impression of that exhibit, without making it about my research and study.
  • My objective is bring to put the artist first and celebrate the dialogue that it generates within the reading community.
  • Of course my focus is on feelings or the range of feelings evoked by a particular piece in  my own  present, historical or imaginary/ spiritual world.
Credentials
I do not have the education and experience to undertake "Art Criticism" in the pure theoretical sense and I feel very ignorant when thinking about the broad questions related to art history, art rends, or possibilities in the area of future art. I also do not want to have to hide my face later on, by saying, or making statements about any work of art or artist, that is not true.

The most effective way, I believe, I can operate is to treat my commentary as a vehicle for a larger dialogue for artists and their artistic endeavors in Saskatoon, and provide a feedback to a larger community, that is if there are people out there who would actually read my comments.
